TA DA!

This will be a short one because last night's blog took a lot out of me, but I want to put in a plug for Effy Wild's fantastic concept: the Ta Da list.

It grows out of the To Do list, which as all of us know, is never ever ever done. They grow daily, and no matter how many things you check off, more things show up to take their place. The Ta Da list, on the other hand, is what you've actually done. We never really give ourselves credit for what we do, do we? Especially women.

Now how in the heck am I going to put pictures I've taken into this blog? I'm not likely to show you my darn list! It's about 40 pages long if I actually write it down. Especially if I do that time honored thing called "eating an elephant bite by bite." If I break down stuff I have to do into tiny steps, then the list will wrap around the world about 400 times.

Hmmm. I dont' have a picture of that, so you'll have to imagine it.

How about if I put in a picture of my after my first 5K in 2010. It was a Woman's Run and the glass and medal say "I run for champagne and chocolates"

Now THERE'S a TA DA for ya!

I guess I should've done some art today to prepare for today's blog, eh? I'm so close to Canada now that I don't have any trouble ending a sentence with "eh", eh?

And I've been in Minnesota long enough that I heard myself saying "FOO-wed". As in "I need to buy some FOO-ed". Is the Open O far behind?

                                                                    SQUIRREL!

Yes, my mind is all over the place tonight. Odd, since things in my house are a teensy bit more in their places today. My Ta Da list is boring, but it makes me happy:

Laundry
Changed the bed
Took out trash (never mind how much)
Ran the dishwasher
Printed out forms I need for school
Decluttered at least 15 minutes in each room (and more than that in one of them)

                                                         And most important of all

                                                  Called and emailed my ORGANIZER!!!

She will help me put parts of my life in a metaphysical Bento box and I'll be more ready for school.

If you don't have an organizer, I suggest that you check it out if you're the least bit disorganized. Since most of my readers are artistic, I'm thinking a lot of you are just a bit...um...creative about dealing with your homes. (I've SEEN some of your studios!) My organizer knows things about why I feel like I have to hold on to something, or why I'm afraid to put something out of sight (where I might never remember it is) I ask her how the heck does she KNOW that? Her answer:

I know my people. I am your shaman!

Hooray! I found a picture I could use! Yes, it's a doll, but wouldn't she make a great shaman?

I feel a bit better now that I've cleaned my cave a bit. So for today, my Ta Da list makes me very happy.

Tomorrow, I hope to report some ART on my Ta Da list. But in the meantime, I'm going to keep climbing up that imaginary ladder to get on top of my To Do list.

As IF that's even possible for any of us!

But if we do, then we can do a happy dance like this owl. (See, I managed to find illustrations!!)

  2. Good morning Rene - have a brilliant day! I love the idea of a TA DA list - my new resolution for Wednesday is going to be to try to stop trying to finish the TO DO list!!

    1. Me too!!! I'll go back to calling it the Grasscatcher List, like Steven Covey did. He said to just keep a running list that caught your fleeting thoughts of things undone like the thing behind the lawnmower caught the grass. THIS list was one you looked at to take A FEW things for your ToDo list.
And Effy's suggestion is that the Ta Da list contains things you do every day and never give yourself credit for.....made the kids' lunches, rinsed out your teeth, threw out dead flowers in vases and replaced them etc.
along with things you accomplished that were on top of daily activities too, of course.

  3. I have a "To do" list and when I do something that isn't on my "To do" list (since I have trouble staying organized enough to even do a "To do" list) I add it and check it off. It helps make me feel accomplished. So do I need a "Ta Da" list? I don't know. I will have to think about that one.

  4. See my reply to FIL above.

I also put things of self care or self pampering on my Ta Da list.

I'd never put "bubble bath by candlelight with spa music" on my To Do list, but I don't do it often enough. so it becomes a Ta Da!!!
